3D colour scans for object assessment

چکیده
Digital heritage technologies are radically changing the way we engage with material culture and are negotiating new ways of knowing and understanding the object. Realising the importance of digital technologies and new interdisciplinary possibilities, the E-curator project has been undertaken by UCL Museums and Collections with the goal of applying two state of the art digital technologies: 3D colour laser scanning and e-Science technologies. This project captures and shares very large three-dimensional scans and detailed datasets about museum artefacts in a secure computing environment. This paper presents our investigation about the use of 3D colour scanning for museum object

Adaptive Colour Classification for Structured Light Systems
The authors present an adaptive colour classification method as well as specialised low-level image processing algorithms. With this approach the authors achieve high-quality 3D reconstructions with a single-shot structured light system without the need of dark laboratory environments. The main focus of the presented work lies in the enhancement of the robustness with respect to environment ill...
متن کاملAppealing Female Avatars from 3D Body Scans: Perceptual Effects of Stylization
Advances in 3D scanning technology allow us to create realistic virtual avatars from full body 3D scan data. However, negative reactions to some realistic computer generated humans suggest that this approach might not always provide the most appealing results. Using styles derived from existing popular character designs, we present a novel automatic stylization technique for body shape and colo...
متن کاملAutomated Damage Assessment from 3-d Laser Scans
Many existing bridges suffer from damage due to age or accumulated damage from hazards. It is essential to accurately assess the current conditions of these aging, deteriorating and damaged structures in order to evaluate their present status and decide on future steps for rehabilitation. Three-dimensional laser-scanning technology, which is used to collect 3D laser scans with coupled texture-m...

OBJECTIVES To evaluate the registration of 3D models from cone-beam CT (CBCT) images taken before and after orthognathic surgery for the assessment of mandibular anatomy and position. METHODS CBCT scans were taken before and after orthognathic surgery for ten patients with various malocclusions undergoing maxillary surgery only. 3D models were constructed from the CBCT images utilizing semi-a...
متن کاملAutomated Recognition of 3d Cad Objects in Site Laser Scans for Project 3d Status Visualization and Performance Control
This paper presents a new approach that allows automated recognition of three-dimensional (3D) Computer-Aided Design (CAD) objects from 3D site laser scans. This approach provides a robust and efficient means to recognize objects in a scene by integrating planning technologies, such as multi-dimensional CAD modeling, and field technologies, such as 3D laser scanning. Using such an approach, it ...
